Huon pine trees are endemic to Tasmania, naturally resistant to rot, and extremely slow growing. Most Huon pines are usually found growing on or near riverbanks on the wetter west coast of Tasmania, with only salvaged Huon pine timber found in the rivers or forest floor allowed to be utilized.
Blackwood is a member of the wattle family and is a very hard timber. It can be found throughout Tasmania’s native forests and thrives in the swamp and riverine areas.
Tasmanian Myrtle is found in any of the wet forests across Tasmania, more frequently in the west and northwest of the State. An easily grown tree provided conditions are moist and sheltered.
