This Set of Two Cheese Boards | Huon Pine & Myrtle have been handmade using salvaged recycled and off-cut Tasmanian timbers.
Perfect for serving breads or cheeses and with the comfortable hand carved handles makes for very easy serving.
Huon pines are endemic to Tasmania, naturally resistant to rot, and extremely slow growing. The majority of huon pines are usually found growing on or near river banks on the wetter west coast of Tasmania.
Most of the salvaged Huon pine timber is sourced from this west coast area in Tasmania, and is highly prized for craft making, boat building, and furniture making. Boat builders love to work with this rare wood as it floats well and is resistant to insects and rot due to its high oil content. Huon pine has a distinctive beautiful aroma and varies from a light buttery to a deeper honey colour.
The Huon pine board is made from timber which grows only in Australia's most southern state, Tasmania.
